The course material discusses the physical properties of wastewater, such as color, odor, and chemical constituents. This course material lists the advantages of wastewater treatment, which include enriching marine life, preventing groundwater pollution, and avoiding soil erosion. This course material describes the various processes in water treatment: pre-treatment, preliminary treatment, primary treatment, secondary treatment, and sludge disposal. This course is based on Wastewater Treatment.

At the conclusion of this course, the learner will have a better understanding of wastewater treatment as well as an understanding of the following topics: 

• Total solids and suspended solids of wastewater
• Physical and chemical characteristics of wastewater
• Measurements of organic matter in wastewater
• Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD)
• Total organic carbon (TOC) and theoretical oxygen (ThOD)
